Trisnawati, L. M., & Thabrany, H. (2015). The Role of Health System to Support PMTCT Program Implementation in Jayawijaya Regency. Journal of Indonesian Health Policy and Administration, 1(1). https://doi.org/10.7454/ihpa.v1i1.1729
This qualitative research was aimed to assess the role of health system, both in health and non-health sectors influencing PMTCT implementation. One of HIV mode of transmission was vertical transmission which in other words from mother to child. This would become a serious issue if not intervened well and would contribute to the increase of HIV cases in Indonesia. Using in depth interviews and observation on 11 research participants in Jayawijaya, along with health facilities surveys, the authors were able to discover that PMTCT implementation was still considered low (64% in health services) in Jayawijaya. This led the authors to suggest that expansion of such service was necessary to help prevent HIV transmission, while also supporting those who were infected.
